Michael L. Stern, PhD is a clinical psychologist specializing in individual and couples therapy.
With over 30 years experience as a therapist, reseacher and program administrator, he currently serves as a private practitioner working with clients committed to enhancing their lives.
Michael Stern is an interactive, solution-focused therapist. His therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. He integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, he works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
In addition to being a prominent therapist, Dr. Stern has presented at National conferences and to general audiences speaking on the topics of stress management, anxiety, addictions, relationship enhancement and enhancing performance. He has had faculty appointments at University of Washington, University of Tennessee, Fairfield University and Western Connecticut State University.
Dr. Stern also maintains a consulting and coaching practice focused on work with small business owners and families in business.
Dr. Stern received his undergraduate education at Cal State University, Long Beach. His PhD in psychology was awarded by the University of Washington. He served as an intern at the National Institute of Mental Health, St. Elizabeths Hospital, Washington DC. He was awarded a post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Tennessee.

Dr. Stern and his wife enjoy seeing the world one stroke at a time sitting in their sea kayaks. He and his wife are avid paddlers on the lakes, rivers and coast close to home and along the east coast.
